Dannemann little cigars do not only look back on a long tradition, but still delight the connoisseur with the finest tobacco products. Since its founding, Dannemann has developed into one of the most important cigar producers in Brazil and still impresses with its sugarloaf Dannemann little cigars.
A short story from Mr. Dannemann.
Like the story of the Hupmann brothers – founder of “H. Upmann ”, that’s how Gerhard Dannemann’s story began in the old Hanseatic city of Bremen. This city, known for its tobacco trade, introduced young Mr. Dannemann to the cigar business early on and so in 1872 he decided to follow his passion and emigrate to Brazil. Once there, he immediately started to build a business in the small Brazilian town of São Félix.
His local business investments were so valued that he was even named mayor of the town in the years that followed. The success of his ventures was not long in coming, so he employed over 4000 people between 1910 and 1921 and developed into the largest and most important tobacco producer in the country and one of the most important industrialists in the state of Bahia.
Gerhard Dannemann died in 1922 under the now changed name: Geraldo Dannemann. After mergers and bankruptcies, the famous name remains today and continues to stand for excellent Dannemann little cigars.
The tobacco for Dannemann little cigars is grown in the best growing region in Brazil.
The tobacco leaves that are processed for Dannemann little cigars are grown in the Recôncavo region in the state of Bahia. The unique conditions, especially in the Mata Fina micro-region, attracted many Europeans to Bahia from the mid-19th century, including Gerhard Dannemann. The tobacco in this growing region is dark and spicy, yet has a gentle aroma. A slightly sandy soil and the perfect combination of mild sunshine and sufficient downpours during the growing season offer the best conditions for successful tobacco growing.
Then as now, the Recôncavo region is a guarantee of the best Brazilian tobacco, which gives the Dannemann cigars and cigarillos their unique aromatic taste.
