The Dutch cigar manufacturer Royal Agio Cigars was founded in 1904 – at that time under the name “A. Wintermans & Zonen”, the Agio brand did not follow until 1950. Over time, the company grew and opened a plantation in Sri Lanka in 1985, for example. Five years later, he set
up his own company in the Dominican Republic. In 2007, a new production facility was finally opened in Westerloo – thanks to the 30,000 square meter site, Royal Agio Cigars is now the largest European cigar factory.
Royal Agio owns various brands of cigars and cigarillos, the products of which are sold in more than 100 countries. 750 million cigars are produced annually – including tobacco products from the Agio brand.
The Biddies little cigars, which are available in five different flavors, are sold under the Agio brand. The “Sweet” flavor is very popular, the cigars that go with it are lightly flavored. Other flavors of Biddies little cigars are Dominican, Blond, Brasil and Sumatra.
